Signorinella: Little Miss

YTBC - 86mins

In 1940, as ever more countries lined up on either side of burgeoning global conflict, Italian migrant families in Australia were forcibly separated. While the men were rounded up and imprisoned in internment camps, the women were left to carry on alone in isolated pockets of community in suburbs like Carlton. Having little more than one another for company and the generations of tradition they had brought with them, these trailblazers would go on to transform the country they made home. In the wave of immigration that followed the end of World War II, Italian women were once again at the forefront of rebuilding the lives of their families. In the process, they left a lasting influence on Australian culture, permeating the realms of fashion, business, community leadership and more.

What are the cinema's opening hours?

The cinema OPENS 10-15 minutes BEFORE the start of the first movie session and closes 10-15 minutes AFTER the last session ends. The times will vary from week to week.

Can I find out which movies will be playing at Griffith City Cinemas?

Movie schedules are determined on Mondays for films opening on Thursday of the same week. Schedules are posted on the Griffith City Cinemas website by Tuesday evening. There are also session times available to listen to on the phone. Additionally, films that are seen as 'Coming Soon' on the website are expected to screen on the allocated time, but release dates may change on any given day.

Do Griffith City Cinemas have wheelchair access?

Cinemas 2 and 3 have wheelchair access. Movies that are screening in a downstairs cinema will have (SDS) next to the title of the movie or an asterix next to a specific session time. We rotate all our films between the upstairs and downstairs cinemas so it is advisable to check with a staff member prior to your session.

Do Griffith City Cinemas accept group bookings?

Yes, please contact us and we will be able to help you out with all group booking inquiries.

How long will a movie play at Griffith City Cinemas?

The length of time any film will play at Griffith City Cinemas is based on the amount of business the film generates, contractual obligations and time of the year. Basically, the more popular a film is with patrons, the longer it will play. There is no way to predict exactly how long a movie will play. Use our website to get information on what films will be playing up to five days in advance.

Why isn't a certain movie playing at Griffith City Cinemas?

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to play every film released because we do not have enough screens. We do however try and get a range of movies to cater for most audiences.

What do the different film censorship classification mean?

The different Film Classifications refer to the content of a movie and to what audience the movie is suited to. For example G rated films cater for a General audience and is appropriate for all ages, up to MA15+ and R18+ films which are legally restrictive. If you're unsure about the restrictions of some films and if they apply to you, please feel free to contact us or check out the Australian Classification website here: http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/Home.aspx

Do Griffith City Cinemas accept EFTPOS and credit cards?

Yes, we accept all credit cards and EFTPOS cards, but however do not accept Diners or American Express.

Can I watch a 3D movie without the glasses?

The way 3D movies are created is to have an image for the left eye, and another for the right eye. When you try and watch a 3D movie without the glasses you will see both images on top of each other. This is quite distracting and very hard to watch as it essentially makes the entire film seem blurry. Most big releases we will have in both 2D and in 3D.

I have ReadD glasses from another cinema, will they work at your cinema?

Griffith City Cinemas use RealD. If you have pair please don't hesitate to bring them along, save on purchasing a new pair and the environment.

How does Closed Captions (CC) differ from Open Captions?

Closed captions are displayed on a small LCD screen in front of a guest that clip onto the cup holder of the seat. The guest lines the LCD screen so it appears to be just under the screen. When the movie starts text will appear on the screen of what the actors are saying or what noise might be happening in the background, essentially acting as subtitles for the film. Open Captions is where everyone can see as it is on the screen, particularly appropriate when translating foreign languages. Be aware that not all films have Closed Captioning abilities, and when in doubt, please ask one of our staff members.
